An 8 year-old Boxer, female spayed, is referred to you because of several skin lesions. The referring veterinarian suspects “acral lick granuloma”. The lesions are located on the left dorsal metacarpus and carpus, about 3 cm in diameter and are firm, with a central hairless area of 1 cm. If pressed a mixed discharge of both blood and pus is seen. The dog shows no lameness and no systemic signs.
