Dr. Leif Denneberg, Chief Veterinary Officer, Swedish Board of Agriculture, Jonkoping gave the information that one crossbred beef cow born in 1994 was the only affected animal in a herd with 50 animals on a farm in Vastmanland.

2) OIE Western blot; - VLA hybrid Western blot; - review of SVA immunostained sections; 3 Mar 2006; positive
The cow was culled due to problems with its hind limbs after milk fever and was sent for destruction.
Samples were taken at the rendering plant as part of the BSE surveillance scheme.
